Lately (if you haven't noticed), my blogging has gone pretty much down the tubes. From feeling a bit overwhelmed with my work to my sluggish transition into fall, the blog has certainly suffered. And although I have been fervently aware of my need for a reboot, my soul has just not been in on it. Well, that was until I decided to not prolong a pick-me-up any longer, so I turned to some cool-weather loves: sweaters and boots.

I will tell you that the brisk air has never felt so good, and when I stopped into Saks on Monday, I was on the lookout for not just your plain old sweater, but something absolutely, sinfully and irresistibly fabulous.

Hello, lover! For whatever reason, Theory has a way of picking my mood right up, especially when it comes to a piece that is as unique and luxurious as the Floraine Striped Knit Cardigan. Color-blocked and funnel-necked, this cashmere-blend is just what I need to bring otherwise plain ensembles together. I picture it layered over my favorite skinny jeggings, a long tee and flats or boots.

Speaking of boots, for a couple of seasons, I have been on the hunt for the quintessential flat, knee-high boot. Although I have purchased one or two over the years, they have never been quite right.

So, on a whim, I stopped into Steve Madden this week (luckily during their buy one, get the second pair 1/2 off). Within a matter of minutes, I spotted, tried on and bought the ultra-cool, suede Montrell boots in black. Not only are they exquisitely comfortable, but they are high-fashion boots that can be worn just below the knee (when cuffed), or pulled on right over the knee for one of this season's hottest trends.

Oh, and the other pair I purchased? Well, wouldn't you know I found the perfect pewter platform to compliment my cocktail frocks. Life is so good.

I'm into metallic in a big way and this ultra-fabulous Silk Lame Top is simply sinful. The ruffles, the silhouette, the pewter-gold deliciousness, oh my! It is the perfect accompaniment to my new zip jeggings along with a patent clutch and booties. Oh, to be young, fabulous and able to fork over $585 for a simple little thing. Mr. Jenden, you have certainly done it again!

Knuckle Knockout

Big, bulky and burly rings are my go-to accessory time and again. With minimal effort, you get a knockout look with just one, spectacular piece.

I usually rock my bold and beautiful rings alongside evening ensembles, which makes the Victoria ring nothing less than perfection. From the dark and gloomy charcoal gray cabochon center stone surrounded by a circle of gray-hued rhinestones, to the chunky gold band that screams regal royalty, cocktail hour will never look better.

I'll be pairing my latest J.Crew piece with a foundation of fall's finest palate: black. For nothing makes a husky statement piece shine more than a demure background that's primed for this kind of beauty.

Holiday Florals

I will be the first to admit that I am not the most religious Jew out there. Yes, there is a mezuzah on my door, I adore Gefilte fish and I actually did go to a Jewish (Conservative) summer camp for 10+ years. But, the only time I step foot into my synagogue is on the High Holidays, which are right around the corner.

Some will say that these two days – the most important and holiest in the Jewish calendar – are a full-fledged fashion show at a time when fashion should be the furthest from our minds. But in reality, it's nearly impossible to not notice the bevy of red-heeled Louboutins, the Valentino tweed suits and the glitter and glamour of diamonds galore. So shoot me if I do in fact get caught up with all the Haute Couture in the air.

Last year I donned dark, fall-tone hues of blacks and grays. Patent leather accessories and opaque black tights finished off both my looks (don't fret, those accessories will work with almost anything). But, there were times when I felt I conveyed a tone of somberness that I would now like to avoid. So in a few weeks, I will be turning to bright and airy florals to carry me from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur.

When I'm looking for a frock that's full of depth yet still holds a touch of whimsy, I land at Anthropologie. At first sight, my eyes locked on this fabulous Gardner's Choice Dress chock full of peonies, zinnias and more. And if you're thinking that pink and purple flowers are wrong for fall, think again. Set against a dramatic black background, the contrast of spring-like florals set against the jet landscape is a winning cool-weather combo. My ubiquitous black opaque tights and patent leather t-straps will continue do the trick this year, but will be offset by a bright yellow clutch and string (or a few) of pearls. Rabbi, here I come.

Love Or Loathe?

Leggings are a necessity in my closet. Though I have strayed from basic black cotton into the shiny territory, my collection is tame at best. Sure, BCBG's liquid gold stunners will add quite a bit of pop (and more), but are they too over the top? Tell me, do you love or loathe?

Weekending

I am a lover of fall. From the slight chill in the air and jewel-toned leaves, to cozy comfort dishes and apple cider donuts; aside from summer, it is my favorite time of year.

Weekends are also a big part of why I adore this season so. There's nothing I enjoy doing more than strolling through the city with my honey, hand-in-hand. We shop, devour delicious lunches, greet friends on the street and so forth. But for every weekend, there must be a perfect outfit that will take me from the park during the day to an early movie at night.

During warm months, I don pieces that are bright and reminiscent of lazy days in St. Barth and warm, breezy nights in Capri. I bask in jeweled sandals, colorful dresses and flowing tops. But when the leaves turn, so does my color palate. Black and brown as well as black and navy are two favorite combos I return to time and again.

Splendid tees and tops that feel like butter next to your skin. But, don't think that they're anything ordinary. This semi-sheer

For bottoms, I tend to go skinny in style. Whether it be a pair of leggings, denim, or something fabulous that comprises them all in one. Juicy Couture has made me a devout fan of their Denim Zip Leggings. Just the right amount of stretch combined with a slim silhouette and detail that is to die for, I will be happy as a camper to strut around in these.

Flats are essential for fall. Don't get me wrong, I live for my boots, but when the temps are still a bit timid, a great ballet such as this Block Patent Kitty will take you far and go with just about anything.

And now, there's nothing more a gal needs other than a great scarf, a Leather Bomber and her favorite bag.

Oh, So Soft

I am craving cozy cardigans as much as my daily iced coffee these days. Yes, it's still steamy outside, but I am revving up for fall in a serious way.

My latest find is from ethereal favorite brand, Calypso. Over the years, I have purchased a bevy of pieces from this seriously chic boutique, with Julia being one of my faves. I have worn it to bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, lunch dates, and even to interviews. It's without a doubt, one of the most perfect frocks ever to be designed.

But, heading into the upcoming chilly weather, I will be layering the Neria Sweater over my sequined tanks and slub tees; part boyfriend style, part feminine, and 100% cashmere. I'll be ordering it in marine, but the plum is divine and the ciel is quite dreamy. There's simply no better way to usher in nights by the fireplace, weekends prancing around the city or Sunday brunch.

For whatever reason, Indie-chic boutique, Free People, holds many of my must-haves for fall. I'm in love with their couture-like creations that can be worn day or night.

You already know that their Vamp Boot is on the top of my list, but there is so much more!

As I've been reiterating time and again, plaid has been invading my closet as of late, and Merrie's Button Down Tunic is my newest pick. Long in the back, and shorter in the front, it's the perfect weekend go-to along with a pair of leggings, a scarf and boots.

There's nothing a girl needs more in her wardrobe than a bit of shine and sparkle, and with this loose-fit, gold lame tank, you'll grab for it every time you want to feel (and look) gorgeous. Dress it up at night with skinnies and heels, or play it down during the day with a chunky cardigan, tulip skirt, opaque tights and flat boots or ballets.

There's nothing better than a knee-high or over-the-knee boot. I tend to buy them as flats for fear of fitting in a bit too well at the corner of Broad & Susquehanna, but there are those times when a heel is simply sensational.

Can you think of a better one that these insanely fabulous suede Vamp Boots by eternal love, Free People? They are casual-cool and sexy-chic all at the same time. And the price? A-MAZING! It's utterly impossible to find a pair of amazing boots for under $500, let alone for just $128!

At first site, I went for the black, but upon further (obsessive) analysis, I am without a doubt going for the more unexpected taupe. Black, while it is my true love, can be a bit ordinary. But taupe, it truly is the neutral of all neutrals. I'll be wearing mine with fall-friendly dresses printed in rich and colorful patterns, solid tunics paired with leggings and long cardigans and of course skinny jeans and chunky sweaters. Fall, please come hither, please!

Mad (Yet Again) For Plaid

My love of plaid has been validated even further by this too cute Textured Plaid Tunic that I MUST have in my closet. Boy, oh Boy, Max, you and I seem to be developing something quite special as of late, my love.

The cotton fabric is perfect for layering under a black cardigan, leather bomber or fitted blazer. And, the draw-string waist is certainly up my comfort-zone alley. Though to some, gray and black may seem a little "blah," but to me it's in perfect harmony with the fall's chilly temps.

For day, I'll pair it with opaque black tights and knee-high flat boots. Or, I'll dress it up a bit more with a pair of patent leather platform pumps or even a cute pair of ballet's.

Sweater Come Hither

This week, I am all about the sweater. Yes, I know it's because I am completely sick of my summer wardrobe that I am anxiously awaiting for Labor Day to pass for the unofficial start of fall to begin. I love the jewel-tone hues of the leaves turning themselves over yet again, the smell of home-baked apple pies and the deliciously decadent apple cider donuts served up hot and fresh at the farmer's market.

The cozy days of fall have me longing for the sheer warmth of a cashmere sweater that is long, lean and perfectly comfortable. Its style is weekend casual, subtly sexy with a message of, "I'm here to stay all winter long."

This cool-weather mantra instantly comes to mind as I gaze at Vince's Hooded Cable Sweater. The knit wool is perfectly casual, yet as chic as can be. I'm going for the gray, which is to be layered over long black tunics and leggings of course. Once night falls, I will bury my curls in its all-encompassing hood as I sip rum spiked cider while sitting on my porch, or curled up on the couch immersed in my book of the moment. Bring on the Bag

There's not much more to say about Botkier's insanely gorgeous Venice Hobo other than WOWZA! The zippers are rad; the color is supple and luscious; and the shape is simply perfect.

To me, a hobo is the quintessential bag every gal must have in her closet. It fits perfectly under the arm – conforming to every curve and creves – and has that effortless chic look that I'm always craving. From jeans to a flirty dress, you will keep on reaching for this classic "forever" piece that has been kicked up a notch with of-the-moment touches. (Hello, tasslea. And did I already mention the zippers? Love!)

Although you could get back to basics with black, however I am all for the saddle color, which will go with just about everything from brown to navy to hot pink. Saks, here I come!

Wilt This

Right before my trip to Israel, I picked up this low-radar, yet highly-fabulous Wilt Racerback Tank at Barney's . In short, it is simply divine. I don't think I've ever donned a top that embodies that coveted mix of casual and sexy than this black number.

So far, my favorite way to wear this assymetrical piece has been with a mini linen skirt and my Milly Gold Sandals. I love how from the front, you can see a hint of the light linen color, yet from the back, it's all top. However, have no fear, I will be pairing it with leggings or jeans and a chunky cardigan once fall and winter (hello transitional piece!) roll in, but for now, it needs nothing more than a simple long pendant and a barely-there bottom.

I must say that I had not been privy to this fabulous brand. But as you can expect, I have researched it to the nines, and found it at favorite stores including Shop Bop, Tee Zone, Revolve and more. Even now, as I'm blogging, it's just too hard to resist one of their tees or this everyday-wear skirt. Seriously, I'm like a kid in a new-brand candy store!

Plaid Attack

I will be the first to say that I am P-S-Y-C-H-E-D plaid is back for Fall '09. Not only do I love this classic, all-American pattern, but today's designers have turned the once flannel-only fabric into stylish pieces that are seriously rad.

Take this unbelievably cool Draped Plaid Tee ($90). The silhouette is anything but ordinary; from the off-the-shoulder cap sleeves and draped hem to the over-sized shape and unfinished edges. I can hardly wait to pair it with leggings and my riding boots, or sex it up with black opaque tights and sky-high platforms. Trendy + Classy = SPECTACULAR!

As you can tell, I'm into dark hues right now, and this absolutely fabulous Satin Bib Necklace from Forever 21 is simply to-die-for. I'll be pairing mine with no-frill tees and boyfriend jeans and high-waisted minis, or with a subdued dress that needs an accessory punch. Lanvin's uber-expensive look-a-like ain't got nothing on this Cheap 'n Chic find.

Hippie Fever

Another day, another wedding invitation. Now don't get me wrong, I am always excited to celebrate the nuptials of our closest friends; from fabulous food and gorgeous decor to the many glasses of bubbly and dancing all night until dawn. But, if you know me, you also know that the clothes are also on the top of my excitement list.

I have a rotation of about eight dresses for Saturday night affairs (daytime fetes are a whole other story). Most of my looks are short cocktail frocks with a few long ones thrown in there for some variety.

This fall, we have two weddings to attend as well as an anniversary party for my parents. So, I'm thinking that one or two more dresses need to be added to the bunch. I prefer to buy simple sheaths that can be accessorized to the max, or that already come with embellishments and all.

While perusing Shop Bop's phenomenal sale section, I stumbled across one of my favorite designers, Haute Hippie. Their clothes are a mix of casual-cool inundated with rocker-chic details. Easily transitioned from day-to-night and season-to-season, I have never gone wrong with one of their fabulous pieces. This Racer-back Tank Dress falls right into that category – perfectly.

First-and-foremost, I love the scoop-neck, racer-back combo – it's one of the most flattering necklines. Second, the metal rings cascading down the front exemplifies Haute Hippie's typical fierce style that I die over. And third, The entire back of the dress is silk, making it perfect for cocktail hour.

Because I'm planning on wearing it in the fall (for now), I'm going with the coal color, another element I love – a deferment from basic and expected black. Finally, HELLO SALE! Originally $375, it's been slashed to $262.50. Gunmetal slingbacks, a subdued clutch, and a bold and beautiful ring will have me witnessing I do in serious style.

If you can't already tell, I am way past summer and straight into the fall. And these Jimmy Choo Calf & Fishnet Booties are making me salivate like a crazy lady.

I am dying to wear them with tattered jeans and a structured Alexander Wang shirt. Or, I can see them adding edge to a 3.1 Phillip Lim floral frock colored in fall's shades of gray. Now only if I can round up $1,095 in cash rather than adding to my AMEX this month, life would be oh-so sweet.

A Wish List For Fall

Is it me, or do you find it silly that once the fireworks have been shot up in the air on July 4th, fall collections immediately appear in storefront windows and online shops' homepages? Personally, I find it hard to get excited about wool sweaters and leather boots with the sun shines as bright and warm as it does during the dog days of summer. But, for the sake of my fellow fashionistas, I must try.

Last fall, I fell in love with (and purchased) Frye's Paige Tall Riding Boot. I simply could not take them off. From leggings and skinny jeans to dresses and skirts, these chocolate brown stallions went with just about everything...I will say that I cannot wait to wear them again.

So what else will I be wearing during the upcoming chilly months? My wish list is in its early stages, though the salivating has already begun. Enjoy!

Juicy's Zip Twill Den Leggings are the end-all-be-all basic that will accompany cozy tunics, knee-length sweater vests and ballet flats.

I have been a lover of Bloch flats for years, and a refresh is certainly in need. PlazaToo.com stocks one of my faves, the London Kitty Ballets, which do the trick of satisfying my insatiable love of all things gold.

Free People's Sequin Mesh Tunic has more than enough sparkle to shine from beneath my cardigans, and the presence to make a plain pair of denim come to life. I'm thinking that the navy or silver will be my colors of choice, but hues are debatable at this point.

Cozy and simple describe this effortlessly chic Vince's Dolman Sleeve Cardigan. It will be the perfect topper to the aforementioned sequin tunic or just over a simple tank that is finished off with a beautiful scarf. If only life could be so carefree.

Hello Missoni, welcome to my closet!

Now's the time to hit up Sak's Fifth Avenue for their fabulous sales at the end of the season...yes, I said that, the end of summer (at least when it comes to fashion) is here.

This fabulous Erminia Tunic Mini is the perfect piece to transition me from warm summer nights to cool fall evenings. The colors are delicious and the ease of the shift is always a favorite of mine. Is it pricey? Certainly. Is it worth it? You bet. Originally $2,200, it is now marked down to $1,319, which I think is a semi-bargain for this long-time coveted brand.

Right now, I'll pair it with nude gladiators or sky-high platform gold slingbacks. But, once the leaves start falling, chocolate brown opaque tights worn with knee-high brown boots will be the perfect accompaniments to this boat-neck, zig-zag frock. Happy, happy as can be!

A Delicious Evening For Alex

Last week I attended a fabulous event at the oh-so-yummy Philadelphia restaurant, Osteria The Great Chef’s Event benefits the ubiquitous Alex’s Lemonade, and is chock-full of celebrity chefs, unbelievable food, and of course, a very stylish crowd.

I shmoozed all night with famous foodies including Bobby Flay, Morimoto, Tom Colicchio, Stephen Starr, and wouldn’t you know, Danny Bonaduce. As you would expect, I was decked to the nines in a few of my favorite pieces-of-the-moment from South Moon Under.

Since it was all about lemons, I chose to rock out in the color of the night in this Jack Voile Dress. Isn’t the sunny hue perfect? Don’t you just love the crochet trim that is nothing but sweet? And I will say that it was extremely comfortable, which was a perfect match for the 20 or so delectable little bites I was privy to sample to throughout the night.

As soon as I walked out of the dressing room in my frock, the lovely salesperson was perfectly in tune to my style, and with that, suggested I pair my lemony confection with Dolce Vita’s Birdcage Heels as well as this pretty Gold Plated Bow Necklace. And I will admit I certainly felt like one of the stars.

Beater Heaven

I have just found my new favorite wife beaters that are going to be the staple to all of my staples for not just the summer, but all year long.

Long and lean, one-size-fits-most, and the perfect strap thickness is what this 50% Supima cotton/50% Modal 2x1 Beater has by Michael Stars. Doesn't it look luscious? I ordered two, and am anxiously awaiting their arrival.

Now at this point you might be saying, "Why is she gushing over a white tank?" But ladies, I will tell you that the beater is that one item in my closet I can never have enough of.

I do have the packages of 3 for $9.99 that I wear to the gym, to yoga, and to bed. But, a gal also needs layering tanks that are suitable to wear out on the town either with a pair of jeans and a fab statement necklace, or under a sequin cardigan tucked into a high-waisted skirt.

Mine have always been by James Perse, the extra-long ones may I add. But at around $70 a pop (and the fact that they don't make them anymore in the cotton-modal blend...boo), I downsized, but certainly did not downgrade. $40 may sounds like a lot to some for a basic beater, but to me, it's a bargain and a half.

Oh, how I love thee! Isn't it divine? Chunky jewels are so hot right now, and this fabulous Cabos Labradorite Necklace by Monica Vinader fits right in.

The 18k gold opulent piece would make a real statement out of an otherwise simple look comprised of my new Boyfriend Jeans and this Wilt Racerback Tank I picked up yesterday at Barney's, which is sure to become my go-to piece to wear just about everywhere. A chunky leather sandal finishes off the city look to perfection. Oh, la la!

American Rescue For Foreign Travel

I will be making my way to Israel later this summer for a short excursion, and right now I am in full-blown gathering mode...more like nesting, but for my suitcase.

I will be spending my days in the hot dessert sun, and many of my nights in steamy clubs; but there will also be downtime on Kibbutz's and so forth, so comfy wear is definitely a must. And you should all know by now where I hit first for cotton basics that are versatile, stylish, and like second skin, American Apparel.

I stopped in there yesterday, and had myself quite a lovely little field day. The first item I spotted was this adorable Acid Wash Hoodie ($45). I fell in love with its distressed purple/pink hues, and cannot wait to throw it on, put the hood up, and feel toasty all over.

Next, I took the comfy theme one step further with an accessory I just know I'll be living in. This Super Sheer Circle Scarf ($37) will be the epitome of my cozy, yet cool looks, and I couldn't resist the effortless chicness of fresh and clean white.

And finally, I can't seem to get enough of the Tri-Blend Track Tees ($20) that fit like t-shirts are supposed to fit: body skimming without clinging, and definitely not boxy! I already have a mini collection of them, but on this trip I refreshed my stock with another gray, indigo, and black.

Befriending The Boyfriend

Well, if I may say so myself, I am utterly psyched about my latest purchase in these ultra-cool, boy-chic Boyfriend Jeans by the ubiquitous Current/Elliot.

I will admit that when I first tried them on, I was like "Really?" But, once my lovely Knit Wit sales girl threw a bunch of fabulous tops in the dressing room from t-shirts to flowing and summery peasant tops – including this pretty Joie Flutter Top, which was purchased as well – I couldn't resist.

These seriously distressed and unbelievably soft boyfriends will be the staple of my summer wardrobe. My first ensemble will be these two newest purchases paired with my current favorite Bernardo's. But, once that's out of my system, my everyday staples including my Tri-Blends and Perfect Fit Tees will be the perfect toppers. Summer jeans forever!

So a few days ago, I blogged about my newest Comfy Chic purchase. Well, the sweats arrived at my doorstep today, and I'm sorry to say that I'm not so into them.

They are oddly thin, extremely flimsy, and I have a suspicion they will be pilling themselves away in no time. So, off to the post office I will go tomorrow.

I can't wait to throw a low-slung belt around it and my trusty gladiators that I seem to not be able to get enough of. I picked it up in navy, but I am sure I will be ordering the raisin color in no time. So really, I can't complain.

Believe it or not, there are those times when I simply do not want to dress up. Say, when I'm picking up a cup 'o Joe on Saturday morning, running to the dry cleaner after a workout, or simply hanging around the house.

Tie Dye is one of those trends that is certainly a blast from the past. I remember the old days of the early 90's when I gleefully tie-dyed t-shirts during many summers at camp. Remember the countless images of hippie chicks at Woodstock in the 60's? Seriously, tie dye has come full circle.

Today, it's one of the hottest looks going. I continually see it everywhere from the pages of gossip magazines to the windows of my favorites stores in The City of Brotherly Love. Though much like the gladiator, I was not too keen on this trend in the beginning; but once I spotted this sublime Silk Chiffon Tie Dye Scarf ($68) while perusing Intermix, I could not resist.

Isn't it gorgeous? I quickly snatched up the fuschia style that is dyed with gleaming bursts of white. It will definitely keep my neck cozy while working under the blasting air conditioner or dining in frigid restaurants during the hot summer months. I think for my first look I will pair it with my favorite skinny's (which I now see are on a serious sale) and a clean white tank. Or, I'll ditch the denim and keep it fresh with my linen pants while gazing at the sunset down the shore. Ah, the possibilities!

My only dilemma now is color: I'm deciding between the black ombre pattern with cascading grays and dark, gloomy tones, or the navy motif, which is riddled with turquoise and aqua hues. Skirts are calling out to me this season in a major way. Much like dresses have always been my go-to items for an easy yet stylish piece to just throw on and head out the door, skirts are currently inching their way up the food chain.

I simply love pairing a short and flouncy skirt with a simple, tucked-in tank top and a pair of chic flats. The high-waisted silhouette seems to be an all-encompassing flatter-fest, one that I cannot wait to throw on.

Now since I was never a huge wearer of this style, my collection of lovely little skirts is slim. Last summer I started with a little Max Studio number, which I have quite simply worn to death. Next, I picked up American Apparel's sublimely soft and cute Melange Jersey Pocket Skirt in Heather Gray. I surely got my money's worth out of this sassy number without a doubt.

And now this year, well, I already divulged my most recent Basic Glory. Yet now, I believe I will be adding a fourth that brings a little umph to the palate in this Freelance Ikat Tulle Skirt ($48); which was discovered during my normal 7 a.m. hour when I lie in bed and brainstorm about what my closet needs...at South Moon Under.

Without sounding cliched, isn't it lovely? I am dying over its intricate Ikat pattern and bright hues that are perfect for summer. I will say that I have never been too keen on shopping at Forever 21. If you're in your 20's, you are well aware that this is the decade of the wedding. I cannot even count how many I have been to, but I will say that I am always on the hunt for the perfect cocktail frock for my next nuptials. Now this is not to say that I buy a new dress every time an invitation lands on my doorstep, but there is a rotation of about eight to ten pretty little things that go round and round the "I do" merry-go-round.

I am not one much for a plain old black dress, though I do have a couple in stock. Rather, I try to find dresses that will really stand out amongst the sea of black. And I think I found my newest one:

Sometimes it's the simple things in life that makes us feel so good. This is no more true than when it comes to frocks we can throw on and walk out the door looking nothing less than fabulous.

It was Summer 2007. I remember my BF and I were headed to a Yankee v. Tampa game at Yankee Stadium. It was grossly hot out, we were taking the ferry, and I was having one of those days where I had absolutely nothing to wear. I ran (well, sprinted) over to American Apparel's Walnut St. location and picked up the first dress I saw, the Racerback Tank Dress ($32) in Asphalt. I barely got it over my head as I walked out the door, and as soon as I discombobulated myself, I glanced in a store-front window and thought, "Huh, pretty damn cute!"

From then on, I have had a simple yet adoring affinity for this no-frills piece. I wear mine over a white-ribbed tank, and accessorize minimally with a pair of cute sandals or flips and sunnies. I will say that it has gotten a good beating, and therefore, I am in desperate need of a refresh. I'm thinking of going bold with both a red and yellow one. They will without a doubt be my go-to's on any hot day.

I absolutely died over these sensational Petal Sandals when walking past them last week at Neiman's. I don't believe I've ever seen a piece of footwear that is so feminine, so frilly, so utterly dreamy. Leave it to the lovely Christian Louboutin to create this kind of accessory magnificence.

I daydreamed about wearing them to a wedding I have in June with my favorite one-shoulder black chiffon cocktail dress. It's asymmetrical, ruffled, and simply lovely. A beaded black clutch would have finished the look off without a hitch. And though I was dying to try on these crepe satin, 4", red-soled heels in creamy pink, I resisted the temptation. Though, the $995 price tag certainly helped with that.

As soon as my Myne Lila dress fell onto my doorstep, I have been searching high and low for the perfect accents for this moody confection...especially since I'll be wearing it to a close friend's rehearsal dinner in a few weeks.

I thought a pair of flat sandals would do the trick so that the gorgeous silk/chiffon fabric would be played down a bit. And to my lucky surprise I found these Madden Ruffle T-strap flats that are absolutely perfect at one of my favorite Philly shops, South Moon Under. Not only are they wonderfully inexpensive at $39, but they are the best of both worlds: Girly (thanks to the ruched ruffle) and a bit unexpectedly edgy (thanks to the black leather).

In keeping with the dark and mysterious theme, I chose this chic Alondra Straw Clutch ($175) by 7 For All Mankind. Not only do I absolutely love anything straw in the warmer months, the patent leather trim, over-sized shape, and moody color will be great for day or night all summer long.

I will be the first to say that I love jewelry...the big, fake, costume kind. Don't get me wrong, a diamond stud or a Rolex never hurt, but when it comes to high-fashion, the bolder and more unique the better.

The gladiator sandal has puzzled me from the start. I never understood why a piece of footwear required so much unnecessary embellishment -- from multiple straps and buckles to the unflattering point at which they cut off the ankle. As my beloved said when I recently tried one on for him, "It looks like your foot is in a cage." And I kind of agreed with him.

Last summer, I remember seeing them EVERYWHERE, but stood on firm ground that it simply was not a trend for me. I hoped it would just go away like a lingering cough or a pestering editor, but it did not. To my dismay, the gladiator has returned this spring/summer with a vengeance. And although I had continually promised myself to never own a pair, I have simply given in to the trend, but in a semi redeeming way...

Free shipping mecca Piperlime made it hard for me to resist the Mia Hydra, which is relatively inexpensive at $70 -- unlike its $500, $600 and even $900 counterparts. Its rubber sole is as practical as can be, and as style guru Rachel Zoe claims, "It's great for the girl who doesn't love wearing heels during the day." And if you know me, that phrase is the epitome of my style philosophy. Heels feel so contrived in the sunlight, and nothing should be that uncomfortable before 6 p.m.

I gave into the gold because I love metallic with just about everything. And although it looks a bit flashy to the eye, I will thoroughly enjoy their outright audacity...while squinting at the fact that I am actually wearing a gladiator.

There's nothing I love to wear more in the summer months than linen. It's clean, refreshing, and although it may be a wrinkle haven, it screams lazy days by the beach.

I am a big believer in linen pants, but because I like mine to be bleach white, I tend to refresh them every year because once they have been worn (and washed) throughout a season, that fresh brightness is usually no more.

I fondly remember the J.Crew catalog during my tween/teen years as being one of the most exciting things to come home to – especially when it was spring and summer. The bathing suits – glorious, the sandals – spectacular. I could hardly wait to slip into a comfy pair of lounge pants or throw on a flirty dress for a party.

But as I grew older, J.Crew didn't quite relate to me. I became a bit edgier, as they stayed true to their ever-so preppy style. It wasn't until recently that I began taking a peak ever so often at their online closet, which through the years developed a chic and sophisticated look (along with a pricier price point). And though I don't visit it everyday, there are those time when I'm looking for something a little bit pretty that I head on over to see what's on sale.

When I was younger and the financial burden of furnishing my closet fell on my parents, I was definitely spoiled by the fabulous basic brands available at Tee Zone (such as Splendid, Michael Stars, C&C, Ella Moss, James Perse).

But nowadays (and in these economic times), it seems utterly silly to spend upwards of $50, $60, $70 for a garment that does nothing more than layer and be the perfectly basic piece that it is. However, when I would purchase tees from ubiquitous stores such as Gap, Banana Republic J. Crew, after a few washes (and definitely after one season), they would be out of shape, severely faded and horribly pilled. In comes my new finding.

I have searched high and low, and have finally succeeded at none other than Urban Outfitters by the likes of their Truly Madly Deeply Deep V Neck Tee ($24). It's an ultra-soft, pima cotton-blend piece that is long and lean, comes in a variety of juicy hues, and is absolutely perfect with just about anything. I kept it simple in black and dark gray, but the hot pink (in stores only) will certainly be finding itself on my shelves. I love wearing it with simple skinny jeans and a cardigan, or tucked into a cute mini skirt for a casual-chic look. And the best part...after countless washings, its charm (and fit) is still intact.

Summer Sandal Additions

Whoever said diamonds are a girl's best friend, may have forgotten that sparkles have fierce competition with lady's footwear.

When it comes to my go-to favorites, I continually turn to the flat. And although I don't think there's anything sexier than a perfectly-pedicured foot showcased in a strappy stiletto, it's no secret that the comfort factor surely goes out the door.

In the colder months, I find myself reaching from a bevy of ballet flats and flat knee-high boots. Brands such as Frye, and Sigerson Morrison rank high on my list. Yet when the weather turns balmy, there is one man who stay firmly on my feet throughout the season: Bernardo.

And although Bernardo's own website spews its collection season after season, I have found that Sandal World combines a select group of of flat sandal brands (Mystique, Lily Pulitzer (McKim's) and Jack Rogers) that I continually reach for sunny day after sunny day.

Won't they be spectacular when paired with wide-leg white lined pants and a simple white tank? I simply cannot wait.

A Dress For All Occasions

There’s something to be said for maxi dresses that can easily go from day to night. And this moody blue, 100% silk show-stopper by every hip girl’s favorite designer, Myne is no exception.

Remember when you were told that blacks and blues never work together? Well, think again. Personally, it’s one of my favorite color combos, and one that I tend to put together quite often. The softness of the blue offsets blacks' harsh tone, which makes them a leading match in perfection.

I will certainly be pairing this Myne Lila dress with a pair of girly black sandals that have a bit of an edge (gladiator? t-strap?) and an arm full of bangles. Add in an over-sized black clutch, and I’m ready for a romantic evening at one of my favorite BYOB’s. Or, it will be sublimely chic when worn while lunching with the ladies; a breezy night by the sea in the heart of summer at the shore, or even while trampsing down the street on a sunny afternoon.
